Musk makes another controversial statement: using Microsoft's blue screen incident to attack "diversity"
The "digital epidemic" that began on July 19 has swept the world, bringing down Microsoft's network and cloud computing services on a massive scale. Experts called it the "biggest IT glitch ever", and the glitch stemmed from a faulty kernel driver in CrowdStrike.
But billionaire Elon Musk has used the disaster as a perfect opportunity to attack his opponents. Not only does he promote the stability of his platform, but he also takes aim at CrowdStrike's Diversity, Equality and Inclusion (DEI) initiative.
Mr. Musk has long been critical of DEI, which he has publicly described as "just another term for racism". This time, he quipped in response to a 2022 CrowdStrike tweet about working with Bright Network to advance DEI: "It doesn't look too'bright 'now." Seemingly suggesting that the glitch was related to CrowdStrike's DEI initiative.
This is not the first time Mr. Musk has linked corporate problems to diversity. He has previously blamed Boeing's 737 Max 9 accident for hiring too many non-white pilots and factory workers. He has also claimed that Duke University has lowered its admissions criteria to increase diversity, which the university has denied.
While Microsoft services were back to normal, Mr. Musk announced on his platform: "We just removed CrowdStrike from all systems, so we stopped deploying it altogether."
